Experience the timeless spirit of Derby night as we gather to celebrate and support the families who rely on RMHC Rochester. It’s an evening of elegance, tradition, and extraordinary purpose.
Thanks to the incredible support of our community, the 2026 Race for the Roses Gala welcomed a record number of guests for this signature event, bringing together supporters, partners, and friends for an unforgettable evening benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester (RMHCR).
This high-energy event blended fun and philanthropy in support of families navigating their child’s medical journey, all inspired by the excitement and tradition of race day.
Each contribution made throughout the evening helps RMHCR continue to provide housing, meals, and emotional support at no cost for families with children receiving medical care in Rochester. From our 24-room House on Westmoreland Drive to in-hospital housing at Golisano Children’s Hospital and family respite spaces throughout the region, RMHCR ensures families can stay close to their child when it matters most.
This year’s event featured a variety of interactive experiences and entertainment, including signature cocktails and RMHCR’s own “McJuleps,” a nod to the classic Derby tradition.
Guests also enjoyed casino games such as roulette and blackjack, live music from Atlas Band, and entertainment from magician Joel Greenwich. The evening was hosted by emcees Scott Spezzano and Sandy Waters, who kept the energy high throughout the program. Additional experiences included a golf simulator and multiple photo activations, including a 360 booth, winner’s circle experience, AI photo booth, and digital mosaic.
A highlight of the evening was the opportunity to hear directly from families served by RMHCR, including the Lupisella family. Their story offered a powerful reminder of the impact RMHCR has on families facing complex medical challenges and the importance of having support just steps away from their child’s care.
