Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, NY, Inc. provides a “home-away-from-home” to families while their children receive the medical care they need.

Whether it’s lodging, transportation, meals, or companionship, we take the worry away so families can concentrate on their children.  All families are welcome to the Ronald McDonald Family Room and the Family Lounge. Contact your health care provider or social worker to obtain a referral for overnight stays at Westmoreland House or the House Within the Hospital.

How to Stay?

Our 24-bedroom Ronald McDonald House located at 333 Westmoreland Drive provides a warm and peaceful “home-away-from-home” for families traveling to the Rochester area for their child’s medical care. In addition to our comfortable bedrooms with private baths, we offer a three-station kitchen, complimentary laundry facilities, inviting places to relax, enticing gardens, meals and snacks, and play areas where kids can be kids. Transportation between the Westmoreland House and area medical facilities is available. A referral from a healthcare provider or social worker is required.

Located just seconds away from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Golisano Children’s Hospital, our 7-bedroom facility provides a comforting setting with private bathrooms, kitchen, and laundry facility for the families of critically ill or injured children receiving treatment at the hospital.  A referral from a healthcare provider or social worker is required.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room welcomes pediatric patients and their families in an inviting place to rest and relax in the lobby level of Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.  Families can spend time together and enjoy complimentary coffee, cold beverages, healthy snacks, and fresh-baked cookies. Throw in a quick load of laundry or freshen up with a fast shower – the Family Room offers the comforts of home. The Family Room is open 9am to 9pm to all families.

The Family Lounge at Rochester General Hospital is open to families of pediatric patients. The Lounge provide a respite space where families can enjoy snacks, freshly baked cookies, and beverages in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

The Mental Health and Wellness Family Lounge is open to families of pediatric patients receiving care in the Department of Psychiatry at Strong.  The Family Room at URMC Mental Health and Wellness provides a respite space with a play area, laundry machine and kitchenette with snacks and coffee. Our lounge also includes psychiatric resources,  computer and printer for families to use.

RMHCR is proud to be the first Ronald McDonald House in the United States to offer a program for mental health patients and to be there to ease the burden on these families.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room will serve as a space for pediatric families to rest and relax. The sleeping rooms will allow new parents from the August Family Birth Place to stay close to their babies and parents to stay close to their kids in the Golisano Neuro Rehab Center.
